I need boy help please?

I'm 15 and I like this boy in my year. Everyone says they I could do so much better as he's shorter than me, and not exactly a looker but I like him so you know. I think he's quite shy and we're going to the cinema next week with all our friends so I'd like to get closer to him... But how? What shall I do? Shall I try and get over him? I really want him to like me too! Please help! Thank you!
